Garmarna is a Swedish folk music band.

Description: "This rock carving is in Backa near Lysekil in Bohuslän in Sweden. It's from the Bronze Age. One of the figures is a sun disc placed upon a wagon. There are also some figures that are hard to explain. In Swedish."

Description: "The "Shoemaker carving" in Backa in Bohuslän in Sweden is a famous rock carving from the bronze age, i.e. 3500 years ago. I interpret this male figure as a God with an animal head, horns, and a sun disc between the horns. Quite similar to an Egyptian God! In Swedish."

Description: "Dan-o grabs his old axe to beat out some Heathen Hip-Hop. Who needs a Hum-V when you got crew and some honey mead!"

Description: "It is not easy but one of the holes running through the White Horse Stone can be played like a horn."

Faldouet Dolmen

Description: "A brief look at the Dolmen at Faldouet, St.Martin, Jersey (UK). Not the best weather for it, but it'll do for now. Haut de la Garenne is just over the fields."

Description: "The Kupala day is a pagan feast of summer solstice in Slavic countries. The ancient fertility riot was accepted into the orthodox calendar. While it was associated with John the Baptist and is marked on July 7, today's pagan worshipers in Russia celebrate the feast in the period around mid-summer day in June."

Description: "Godthiod is preparing for a naming ceremony in an ancient stone-circle at Midsummer's Day 2008. Upon the erected stones of the circle there are the blót sacrifices from yesterday's Midsummer blót. These are flowers and two heathen bread figures showing the deities Freyja and Freyr. The bread figures have been mostly eaten by birds since yesterday. Godthiod is a regional network within the Swedish Asatru Society. In Swedish."

Video description: "Hegge stave church - Hegge stavkirke: My son and I have been to this building many times. There is something very special in the attic. Not just anyone one is allowed (or dares) to go up there! Guess what's at the top of those red masts hidden above the ceiling. Old Norse Viking Age gods! Here is Odin with his blind eye!"

Q: What is the purpose of Asatru TV?

A: Asatru TV was started to collect and categorize the increasing number of Asatru-related videos that are appearing on the Internet. Most of these videos are hosted on sites like YouTube which are not optimized for those interested in Asatru videos. Some of the videos I have located were found only by the oddest of search terms.

Q: Are these videos produced by Asatru TV?

A: No. They are produced by individuals and organizations around the world.

Q: Can you post their videos on Asatru TV?

A: Yes. The way video sites like YouTube are set up, once a video is posted there, it is open to the public and code is provided by YouTube to widely post the video anywhere on the Internet. Anyone posting a video on a video site should be aware of this and that they are permitting others to widely propagate their video. It is a design function of these video sites.

If an individual or organization does not like this, they have two choices. They can specifically instruct a video site like YouTube to not allow other websites to post their videos (a direct link to it is still possible), or they can delete the video. But that also means they are depriving viewers of the chance to learn about Asatru from their perspective. This is one instance where it impossible to measure how freely allowing people to view their videos can help Asatru community and culture.

Q: I notice that you have videos from a certain organization or individual. Certain individuals and/or organizations seem to have a lot more videos than others. Does this mean that Asatru TV supports that organization or individual?

A: Asatru TV does not specifically support any organization or individual. Videos are posted here based on whether they pertain to Asatru and the availability of videos that can be posted. Asatru TV is constantly looking for new content to post. Some organizations and/or individuals produce more videos than others. By default, there will be a greater number of their videos on Asatru TV, until such time other organizations and individuals make more videos of their own that can be posted. There is no favoritism intended. Whatever happens to be available and has decent enough production quality, is what is posted.
